About

Hello, my name is Jaimie and welcome to thePianoforte! This is a place I am processing living out my identity as a disciple of Jesus. The blog is named after the full, Italian name of my instrument of choice, the piano. The instrument was originally named Pianoforte [which means soft (piano) and strong (forte)] because it reflected the amazing range of dynamics the piano produced...and such it is with life- full of dynamics, soft and loud. You can expect to read poetry and thoughts on life experiences and what I'm learning from them in areas such as:
  • Love
  • Family
  • Homemaking
  • Worship & theology
  • Community
  • Ethics
Two of the Tabs on thePianoforte are about Trades of Hope, where I am on staff and also work as a Compassionate Entrepreneur (fair trade accessories that empower women out of poverty!) and Kairos, my faith community whom I serve as the Worship Pastor. Check out the Goodreads Tab for a working list of blogs, posts, books etc. that I have found helpful and worth sharing. And below is a peek into my music experience.

I hope you find something here that you can relate to or speaks to your soul!

Best regards,
jaimie
Music Experience:

Before Jaimie Stepro made it to her first birthday, two things were very clear to her parents: she loved to communicate and she wanted to make music.  Her small hands would reach up to her grandparent’s piano and desperately try to clank out a tune before an adult would close the lid. Wanting to encourage her love for music, they enrolled her in piano lessons at age 5.  Though she was a young student, she practiced her pieces regularly and enjoyed playing.

Jaimie was trained in classical music and developed a love for Chopin, Mozart, Debussy and several other timeless composers.  She received several Certificates of Merit and performed in recitals and participated in competitions. At age 12 she started teaching piano and by 17 she was leading worship for her family's church. For the next ten years she continued to teach piano and worked as an accompanist and wedding pianist. In the spring of 2003 she received her Associates Degree in Musical Performance and soon after began writing and performing her own music and recorded an EP The Other Way. Jaimie led worship at Quartzhill Presbyterian for five years and then later obtained the Worship Director position at Horizon Community Church for three years. Currently Jaimie serves as Worship Pastor of Kairos Community.
